Steel wire rope is a helical wire bundle of steel wires engineered with specific mechanical properties and geometric dimensions to meet rigorous requirements. A typical wire rope consists of steel wires, a rope core, and grease for lubrication and protection.
Zomax offers a wide range of steel wire rope designs, achieving an optimal balance of high tensile strength, fatigue resistance, abrasion resistance, and structural stability. We are dedicated to meeting our customers' needs and prioritize their requirements in all aspects of our service.
Below are examples of various steel wire rope structures.

Non-Rotating Wire Ropes:
A wide range of non-rotating wire ropes is available.
Strand Patterns:
Constructed using one or a combination of the following strand patterns: single layer, sealed (S), Warrington (W), sealed-Warrington combined (SW), and filler wire (F).
Rope Core:
Types include natural fiber core (NFC), synthetic fiber core (SFC), wire strand core (WSC), independent wire rope core (IWRC), and compound steel core (CSC).
Fiber cores provide good lubrication and flexibility but have lower resistance to transverse loads. Steel cores offer higher load-bearing capacity but lower lubrication.
Wire Rope Diameter:
Available in a variety of diameters:
Thin diameter: <8 mm
Standard diameter: 8–60 mm
Thick diameter: >60 mm
Surface Treatment Options:
Zinc-coated (galvanized), ungalvanized or bright finish,Plastic Coated
Galvanized steel wire ropes offer enhanced corrosion resistance for harsh environments.
Type of Lay:
Options include right regular lay, left regular lay, right lang lay, left lang lay, and right alternate lay.
Same-direction lay provides good flexibility & longer service life, though it's prone to knotting, loosening, and twisting, making it suitable for traction ropes kept under tension.
Alternate lay has reduced flexibility and a shorter service life but resists twisting and loosening, ideal for lifting applications.

Precision Engineering: Manufactured with high precision for consistent diameter and load-bearing capacity, ensuring stable performance.
Wires: A single circular shaped metal of continuous length made from cold drawn rod made from metal that form a singular strand.
Strands: It is an element of wire rope consisting of an assembly of several wires of appropriate shapes and dimensions spun helically in one or multiple layers.
A fiber or steel core: The core is the foundation of a wire rope. It is an axial member of rope about which strands are laid around in a helical pattern.
Lubrication: Lubrication is applied during the manufacturing process and penetrates all the way to the core. with two primary benefits of Reducing friction and providing corrosion protection
In material handling machinery, it is used for lifting, pulling, tensioning, and carrying. Steel wire ropes for crane is usually used for lifting mechanism such as hoist, winch, and trolley. Due to their strength and durability, they are widely used in various industries, from oil and gas to fishing.
When selecting a steel wire rope, that is resistant to one property, you will most likely have a trade-off that affects another property. For example, a fiber core rope will be more flexible while may offer less resistance to crushing. Similarly, a rope with larger-diameter wires will be more abrasion resistant, though it may offer less fatigue resistance.
We offer all different kinds of steel wire ropes to suit both standard and custom specifications. For assistance with selecting the right wire rope for your lifting project or for any additional information, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
